Introduction

The Department of Biochemistry at PGICH was set up when the Institute was established as a centre of national importance for Paediatric teaching, research and patient care in 2015. Currently Department of Biochemistry, PGICH is providing state of the art laboratory testing facilities 24hrs for all routine biochemistry, specialised immunoassays including thyroid profile, reproductive profile,cardiac profile, Covid Profile including CRP, DDimer, PCT, IL6, covid Antibodies (both natural and vaccine related immunity), immunoglobulins, complete iron profiling, therapeutic drug monitoring, diabetic profile including HbA1c and specialised tests including Anti TTG.

Details Of Events Conducted:

• Celebrated 2nd foundation day of the department & conducted national level CME on "Chasing Targets: Lipid Goals and Beyond" on 10th December 2026 which was attended by around 200 delegates.
• Celebrated 1st foundation day of the department & conducted national level CME on "Recent advances in Biochemistry" on 16th December 2025.
• Conducted public awareness camps on importance of new born screening

 

Any New Services / Facilities Introduced:

• Started New Born screening Programme in department which is first of its kind in entire western U.P.
• Started MD Biochemistry programme with annual intake of 3 students recognised by NMC. First batch started in the year 2025-26 with 3 MD students.
• Conducted more than 3,40,000 tests in 2025-26.
